Shield:
Sanguine to represent patience under pressure and victory as well as the strength of the blood bonds with the armiger's family and those He consider my kin.
The Chief with the Chess Rooks is in recognition of his accomplishments as a leader in both personal and professional capacities.
The Argent represents a clean sheet of paper which in turn is representative of recognising potential and the planning involved.
The Chess Rooks represent both the armiger's love of chess and games and the influence he can choose to wield over others. They are Sable because he always let my opponent make the first move.
The Chevron is representative of a few aspects:
The Argent represents the peace and protection offered by his household, the direction that He strive and a reminder to uplift those around him.
The Plates and their position are representative of the armiger's family's value of spreading their good fortune when they can. This can be as literal as charity or simply sharing our outlook/jokes/time with those within and outside the household.
They is also a light reference to the holy trinity which underpinned my upbringing and continues to influence my outlook, though he am now agnostic, hence why it is not an obvious reference.
The entire escutcheon looks a bit like a face, which injects a hint of drama and whimsy. Which is important in life “A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.”
Crest:
The Ram horns on the helm represent servant leadership, which is leading through example and the empowerment of others.
The Barn Owl represents vigilance and wit. It also reinforces the motto as Owls are nocturnal hunters as well as a nod to a childhood toy and the movie Labyrinth which played big parts during the armiger's formative years.
The Quill Pen represents his love of writing, language and literature. It also represents knowledge which the armiger consider the greatest weapon against many forms of darkness.
The Skull is a memento mori, a reminder of his mortality which he have faced several times already in his lifetime. It is also a reminder to live life to the full. This is something that is always on my mind daily and drives me to cherish each day, not out of fear, but in thanks.
Motto
The motto, "Fear No Darkness", is both literal and figurative. This could be standing up to bullies, or it could be about the continuous learning of new things.
