Symbolism[edit | edit source]
Vert, green being the armiger's favourite colour, represents stability, as well as their Australian nationality and Irish ancestry.
The frets represent the armigers family, conjoined forever. Additionally they represent lines of longitude and latitude indicating their interest in geography.
The pale represents the armigers interest in psephology (electoral science), the straight line in argent representing the integrity of electoral process while the cottices represent their work in the Public Service, being straight and narrow.
In the crest, the wombat represents their Australian nationality and also being the animal they identify with.
The motto is a reminder to always do things with purpose and not worry about the futile or useless things.
