The lion symbolizes the city where the armiger was born. The hearts symbolize their loyalty to their country and the star of David their religion.
For the Motto the armiger chose it because they believe that self improvement is the only way to get true happiness and a person's happiness should not depend on other people.
In the crest the cannons represent physical strength while the book represents Intelligence, both of them together represent that the armiger rather be peaceful but not afraid to pick a fight when they must.
