Symbolism
The white eight-pointed mullet represents Venus, the morning and evening star. The armiger closely associates it with hope in more ways than one. In their favorite book Venus is personified by a character who eternally sails through heaven and shines his light as a reminder that darkness is only a small and passing thing: there is light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.
In the Bible, Jesus identifies himself as "the bright morning star", serving as a representation of the armiger's faith and connecting this symbol with the concept of resurrection. This is further demonstrated by Venus' position as a messenger for the Sun, represented here by a red demi-sun.
Its colour indicates that it is either rising, triumphing over the night, or setting, as it assures us of its eventual return in the morning. Beyond painting a natural setting, the two colours and two symbols used also depict the importance of family and heritage. The white star represents the armiger's forebears, shining upon the memory of their blood, painted in red. It heralds the coming of their descendants as they rise, like a blood-red sun, on a white canvas, upon which they should paint their own history as they bear the flaming-red torch of legacy. The phoenix crest stands in accordance to the overarching theme of rebirth and serves as a reminder of how each generation had to go through a baptism of fire as they strived to forge a reality out of dreams and ambitions.
